Wenxi Wang, a Chinese retiree of 66 years, has patented a bed of his own
invention which he said provides full protection to the occupant in the
event of an earthquake. This anti-quake bed turns the sleeper away when
seismic tremors, the mattress fold to fit in a strong sealed box and a
protection from falling debris. This unique shelter may contain drinking
water, canned food, oxygen masks, everything necessary to enable a
person to survive several days in case of earthquake. According to its
designer, the anti-quake bed ensures total protection to the peaceful
occupant. However, the invention proves especially effective for houses
of brick or concrete with few floors
