India vs West indies - Semi Final - T20 World cup 2016 score highlights

A distraught India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni blamed the two no-balls bowled to Lendl Simmons by Ravichandran Ashwin and Hardik Pandya for team’s shock ouster from the World T20, in Mumbai on Thursday. (STATS || POINTS TABLE || FIXTURES)

Ashwin’s no-ball gave Man-of-the-Match Simmons ‘life’ at 18 when Jasprit Bumrah had taken the catch while Pandya overstepped when the right-hander was on 50. Simmons went to score an unbeaten 82 to win it for the Caribbeans.

Scorecard: India vs West Indies

“It was a bad toss to lose. Then it was a 7 pm start which meant that second innings started half an hour early. It was not bad when we started bowling. The spinners did not have much on offer due to dew. We have a history of problems when the spinners bowl with wet ball. The only thing I am really disappointed are the two no-balls,” Dhoni said at the post-match presentation ceremony.

The skipper said it had become imperative for him to finish quota of his fast bowlers Ashish Nehra and Jasprit Bumrah much before the death as that was the only way to make a game out of it.

ALSO READ: MS Dhoni ‘really disappointed’ with the two no-balls

“There was not much on offer, we wanted our fast bowlers to make a game out of it at the time as it was difficult for the part-timers against big-hitters like Russell. I felt that if they bowl well then part-timers will get a cushion of extra 5-7 runs,” said Dhoni.

Dhoni said that T20 is a demanding format but they have been used to it due to IPL.

“The conditions were very tough. It’s a demanding format as most of the games are close and only one or two games are such where a team cruises through. We play a lot of close games in the IPL and we were up for it.”

N. Korea Aggression Key Focus of US, Japan, South Korea, China Talks

U.S. President Barack Obama and the leaders of Japan and South Korea have urged the international community to “vigilantly enforce” tougher U.N. sanctions against North Korea, following Pyongyang’s nuclear and missile tests this year.

In separate talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping in Washington Thursday, Obama said both are "committed to the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula and full implementation of U.N. sanctions.”

The leaders met on the sidelines of the Nuclear Security Summit being held Thursday and Friday.

Obama met first with South Korean President Park Guen-hye and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe. The longtime allies vowed they would stand together and tighten security cooperation in the face of rising tensions.

"One of the topics now most on our minds is the issue of North Korea and we are united in our efforts to deter and defend against North Korean provocations," Obama said with the three leaders seated side-by-side.

“We agreed during this meeting that trilateral security cooperation is essential in maintaining peace and stability in Northeast Asia, deterring the North Koreans' nuclear threat and the potential of nuclear proliferation as a consequence of North Korean activities,” he added.

North Korea has been roundly condemned for conducting a nuclear test in January and a long-range rocket launch in February, violating several U.N. Security Council Resolutions.

In March, the Security Council passed a resolution imposing tougher sanctions on Pyongyang. They require mandatory inspections of all North Korean cargo and ban the export of most of the country’s mineral trade that has been used to fund its nuclear development program.

About 90 percent of North Korean trade flows through or to China, so Beijing’s enforcement of the tighter sanctions is critical.

“What is essential going forward is to thoroughly enforce the resolution so that North Korea realizes it cannot ensure its own survivability unless it abandons its nuclear aspirations,” said Park.

The allies agreed to work together to “promote concrete security and defense cooperation between the foreign affairs and defense authorities of the three nations,” said Abe.

CK Raut interview on ABC channel I must watch

Mar 31, 2016- Press Council Nepal (PCN) is preparing a probe into the ABC television for broadcasting the interview of CK Raut, the coordinator of the independent Madhes campaign.

According to council chairman Borna Bahadur Karki, the media statutory body will investigate the channel as no citizen should conduct activities against the sovereignty, geographical integrity and national unity of the state.

ABC has violated Nepal’s constitution and journalists’ code of conduct, hence an investigation has been initiated,” Karki said.

Raut’s Press Conference in Reporter’s Club has been halted after the Club’s Chairman Rishi Dhamala was warned against it. Raut, a controversial figure advocating a secessionist campaign, has been repeatedly arrested for his anti-national activities.

Napoleon ate an omelette prepared by a local cook, and he enjoyed it so much that he ordered the townspeople to gather all the eggs in the village and to prepare a gigantic omelette for his army the next day.

Arshi Khan Threatens to Rape Dhoni Kohli and Raina If They Do Not Win T20 World Cup

In a latest bid to be in the headlines, the notorious Indian model Arshi Khan has released a video message on social media in which she is seen threatening star Indian cricketer Virat Kohli and skipper of Indian cricket Team MS Dhoni that she would rape them both if they won’t win the ICC World T20 2016 trophy.

For sure that might be one of her tactic to be in the limelight but in someway she can also land her in trouble as she is threatening two national stars of India.

It is pertinent to mention here that she earlier posted nude photos and also did a stripping video over the Indian Cricket team’s victory against arch-rivals Pakistan.

This Bhopal-born model got in to limelight over claiming that she is in relation with Pakistan Cricket Team captain Shahid Afridi. The legend star of Pakistan refuted all such baseless claims from the Indian model’s side. But this was enough for her to get in the headlines. Since then she did several video acts and photshoots to keep her name alive.

India: Kolkata flyover collapses 'killing at least 10'

At least 10 people have been killed and several others injured after a flyover under construction collapsed in the eastern Indian city of Kolkata (Calcutta), officials say.

Reports suggest as many as 150 could be trapped under the concrete and steel bridge, which fell on a busy road.

Images showed residents using their bare hands to help the rescue effort.

Construction projects in India have often suffered from safety issues with frequent collapses.

Experts say there is a lack of inspections and substandard materials are used.

The flyover has been under construction since 2009 and has missed several deadlines for completion, Reuters news agency said.

The accident took place in an area near Girish Park, one of Kolkata's most densely populated neighbourhoods, with narrow lanes, and shops and houses built close together.

World T20: History of India vs West Indies suggests the match is more than just a semi-final

India will be touring the Caribbean for a four-Test series versus the West Indies in about three months time. That was confirmed on Tuesday by the President of the West Indies Cricket Board, Dave Cameron. Again.

In fact, this was about the third or fourth time in the last 12 months that either Mr Cameron or the WICB's CEO, Michael Muirhead have confirmed the upcoming series — presumably, just to reassure us. This is helpful, because the perceived strength and depth of understanding between the BCCI and the WICB has been in a little bit of doubt since Windies' ill-fated ODI tour of October 2014.

Outwardly, the cordial Caribbean hosts have been confidently repeating that India will join them at West Indies' table for a feast of cricket in July/August.

Inwardly, they are still nervous that their visitors will either bring with them an invoice for an unpaid bill of $41.7m for their last get-together — or just not turn up at all.

So it's good to know they are definitely coming. India can surely expect Chris Gayle to be taking guard to open the batting on the first morning of the first Test; and Dwayne Bravo to be marking out his run-up.

But these are troubles beyond the horizon. On the immediate vista is the exciting prospect of an epic semi-final between hosts India and West Indies in the ICC World T20. Despite both sides suffering unexpected defeats in the group stage, many will expect the eventual competition winner to emerge from this clash of T20 titans. These were the two pre-tournament favourites; and both would realistically be expected to triumph over England in the final.

Lest you forget, India versus West Indies is a fixture that has huge historical significance - which is not restricted to the troubled events of the aborted tour of eighteen months ago.

It is burnt into most Indian fans' mind that the mighty West Indies were the vanquished at Lord's in 1983, when humble India produced one of the unlikeliest results in two hundred and fifty years of cricket, to prevent Clive Lloyd being handed the World Cup for a third successive time. One wonders if Lloyd had got his huge mits upon it, would the West Indies have kept that trophy forever - rather like Carlos Alberto's Brazil kept the Jules Rimet Trophy in 1970?

It was not to be - and the images we preserve of that day are of the beaming Mohinder Amarnath and Kapil Dev. Books have been written, and will continue to be written, about how this was THE pivotal moment in Indian cricket history. What is often forgotten is that these very two same opponents were the starting point for another cricket revolution a little over seven years earlier.

Google Fiber makes phone service official, starts at $10 a month

Google Fiber's phone service is official. Secret invitations to the phone service leaked back in January, but today Google announced the addition of optional phone service for Google Fiber residential customers. The addition of phone service allows Google Fiber to finally compete with "Triple Play" home offerings, which bundle Internet, TV, and phone service from a single company.

In addition to the regular Google Fiber bill, "Fiber Phone" costs $10 per month for unlimited local and nationwide calling. For international calls, the service uses Google Voice's international rates. The actual hardware you receive from Google won't be a phone, it's a VOIP phone box that will bridge your new-school fiber connection with an old-school landline phone.

The service is clearly an offshoot of Google Voice/Project Fi and carries over most of that feature set. You get a "cloud based" phone number that you can forward to any phone with spam filtering, call screening, and do-not-disturb features. There's a voicemail system with speech-to-text transcription, which we'd imagine requires an app or website of some kind. There's also call waiting, caller ID, and, critically, 911 access.

Offering phone service means Google Fiber now has to comply with the FCC's 911 regulations along with several state tax laws. According to the Kansas City Business Journal, these requirements were enough to stop Google Fiber from launching with the option of a phone service, but now Google is apparently ready to tackle these extra regulations.

The announcement says that Fiber Phone is rolling out "in a few areas to start," but eventually it will be available to all residential Fiber cities. Google encourages interested parties to fill out an "Interest Form" to be kept in the loop.

World Twenty20 : England Wins By 7 Wickets, Enters into Finals

New Delhi: Opener Jason Roy's 78 helped England sail into cricket's World Twenty20 final with a crushing seven-wicket win over New Zealand in the last four in New Delhi on Wednesday.
Chasing 154 for victory, England rode on a brisk 82-run partnership between Roy and Alex Hales to canter home in 17.1 overs after the bowlers had restricted a much-fancied New Zealand to 153 for eight.

ALSO SEE Full Scorecard

Roy rose to the occasion, smashing four boundaries in the very first over against Corey Anderson to set the tone for what turned out to be a perfect chase for the 2010 champions.
New Zealand's bowlers, who had shone in the team's unbeaten run to the semis, were at the receiving end of some brutal hitting that kept the packed house at Feroz Shah Kotla entertained.

ALSO SEE Images from the match

The introduction of spin after six overs of powerplay did little to improve the situation but Mitchell Santner gave the Kiwis their first breakthrough when he got Hales (20) out.
Leg-spinner Ish Sodhi also tried to bring some drama back into the game after picking the wickets of Roy and Eoin Morgan (0) to leave himself on a hat-trick, but England made sure they stayed on course.

ALSO SEE Stokes claimed 3 wickets

Jos Buttler (32), who denied Sodhi his hat-trick, and a composed Joe Root (27) then drove England to their second World T20 final, with Buttler hitting a four and two sixes against Sodhi to finish things off in style.
Earlier, England's bowlers responded well to their captain's decision to field first to restrict New Zealand after a poor start. man

Match starts at 2.30pm BST/7pm IST. Live coverage is on Sky Sports 2 and Sky Sports 2 HD in the UK. Star Sports 1 and Star Sports 3 will telecast the game live in India. Click here for live streaming link.

Overview

The ICC T20 World Cup is reaching the closing stages with the competition now down to just four teams. England take on New Zealand in the first semi-final, while India take on West Indies in the second.

The Black Caps are the form team of the tournament having won all four of their group stage games – the only team to do so – and will be hoping to make their second ICC event final to follow up their appearance in the summit clash against Australia in the 50-over format of the ICC World Cup in 2015, which they lost to their arch rivals.

Kane Williamson's team have been average at best with the bat, except for their game against Pakistan, but their bowling has been one of the best in the tournament. They have shown a good mix of pace and spin and have excelled in the sub-continent. They managed to dismiss Asian nations – known for their ability to play spin – India and Bangladesh for 79 and 70 runs, respectively. England will have a challenge at hand, especially on the difficult Feroz Shah Kotal wicket.

Hallamai Petrol Abhav

With a large cone-shaped bamboo basket strapped to her back, Nirmala Bhandari treks two hours every day from her village to a protected forest in the hills, heaving it back filled with enough firewood to cook food for her three children.

Despite knowing timber collection in this forest is illegal and wood stoves cause deadly indoor pollution, the 35-year-old widow says she has no choice since a shortage of cooking gas hit Nepal more than two months ago.

“My children and I spent three days outside a fuel shop for cooking gas but did not get any,” she said in a village in Jhor, 12 km from Kathmandu.

“If there is a problem collecting wood then I may have to feed them only alternate meals,” said Bhandari, explaining that guards at the Shivapuri National Park have already warned her to stop hacking off tree branches in the fast-depleting forests.

Bhandari’s family is among hundreds of thousands in the impoverished Himalayan nation crippled by a shortage of basic commodities after Nepal adopted a new constitution, sparking protests by the Madhesi minority, who say it marginalises them.

Since September, 50 people have died in protests at border points with India, where demonstrators have blocked trucks carrying everything from petrol to medicines from entering the landlocked nation, still reeling from two deadly earthquakes.

पुनर्निर्माण प्राधिकरण अझै भत्किएको घरधुरीको लगत संंकलनमा नै व्यस्त

The Legislature-Parliament endorsed the Reconstruction Authority Bill on Wednesday, almost eight months after the devastating April 25 earthquake, paving the way for the formation of the National Reconstruction Authority to carry out post-earthquake reconstruction in 31 affected districts.

The bill on Wednesday was endorsed unopposed even though eight Madhes-based parties on Tuesday had protested against the government move of tabling it along with the Constitution Amendment Bill. Marshals had confined the lawmakers from the agitating Madhes-based parties to a corner of Parliament to facilitate the government to table the bills on Tuesday.

All the lawmakers present in the House voted in favour of the bill while three lawmakers from Nepal Sadbhawana Party, Tharuhat Tarai Party and Rastriya Madhes Samajbadi Party stayed neutral.
The Sushil Koirala-led government in August had formed the National Reconstruction Authority through an ordinance. However, it was dissolved after the government failed to present a replacement bill in Parliament by September 20.

There will be a three-tier structure under the reconstruction body—Directive Committee, Advisory Council and Executive Committee to govern the Authority, according to the Reconstruction Authority Act.
The Directive Committee and Advisory Council will be led by the PM, while leader of the main opposition will be vice-chairman. The Advisory Council will also have representation of 14 lawmakers, one each from 14 worst affected districts. Similarly, a monitoring team comprising lawmakers also will be formed to oversee the activities of the Authority.

The Executive Committee will be led by Chief Executive Officer.
Both the ruling and opposition parties have been at odds, seeking to place their candidate at the helm of the authority. The reconstruction body can mobilise Rs 91 billion from the state coffers and Rs 400 billion pledged by the donor community.

Canada: ex-minister among seven killed in plane crash on way to father's funeral

Former Canadian cabinet minister Jean Lapierre has died in a plane crash that also killed his wife and three of his siblings on the way to his father’s funeral in eastern Quebec.

The TVA network, for which Lapierre worked as a political commentator, said all seven people on board Lapierre’s twin-engined chartered aircraft were killed on Tuesday when it crashed in bad weather as it was coming in to land on the Magdalen Islands in the Gulf of Saint Lawrence.

Lapierre, 59, had been travelling to the Îles-de-la-Madeleine for the funeral of his 83-year-old father, TVA said. Also killed were Lapierre’s wife as well as two of his brothers and a sister, it added.

Provincial police confirmed all six passengers and the pilot had been killed but did not immediately release their names. Photos from the scene showed the Mitsubishi plane lying in several pieces in a snow-covered field.

The turboprop and is believed to have belonged to a private company. The plane had taken off from the St-Hubert regional airport south of Montreal earlier in the morning.

“The crash took place in a field on approach to the airport,” said Quebec provincial police sergeant Daniel Thibodeau, who described the weather conditions as “not ideal” for flying.

Canada’s transportation safety board said it was investigating the crash, but that due to the bad weather, its team of experts would not reach the site until Wednesday.

The ebullient Lapierre, known for his good humour and animated style on air, made a second career in the media after serving as transport minister in prime minister Paul Martin’s Liberal government from July 2004 to February 2006.

He also acted as Martin’s lieutenant in the mostly French-speaking province.

“We’re going to miss him terribly,” a visibly upset Martin told CTV television.

“He was a very good political analyst, he was one of the best, but he was also a superb political figure in this country and it was a great privilege to work with him,” he said.

Abu Sayyaf bandits snatch 10 Indonesians off Sulu – military

Abu Sayyaf bandits snatch 10 Indonesians off Sulu – military

ZAMBOANGA CITY – At least 10 Indonesian nationals were abducted by Abu Sayyaf gunmen off the waters of Sulu.

Citing reports from the Military Intelligence Group in Western Mindanao, Maj. Gen. Demy Tejares, deputy commander of the Task Force Zambasulta (Zamboanga-Basilan-Sulu and Tawi-Tawi), said the victims were crewmembers of a tugboat marked Brahman 12, which was sailing near Tambulian Island in Tapul town when armed men forcible boarded the vessel.

Tejares said the armed men were led by siblings Nickson and Brown Muktadil, both under the Abu Sayyaf group of Alhabsy Misaya.

Using a smaller vessel, the Muktadils towed the tugboat. The vessel was later recovered in the coastal village of Tubig Dakula in Languyan, Tawi-Tawi, the source said.

There are conflicting reports as to when the incident happened. Tejares said it happened Monday night, while another military source said it was on Saturday afternoon.

Maj. Filemon Tan Jr., spokesperson of the Western Mindanao Command, said they could not give details of the reported abduction even as Armed Forces Chief of Staff General Hernando Iriberri went to Sulu Tuesday morning.

Tan said Iriberri, who will be retiring on April 22, went to Sulu for a “farewell visit.”

Tan also said Westmincom (West Mindanao Command) chief Gen. Mayoralgo dela Cruz would not be answering questions about the kidnapping as “higher headquarters” were tasked to give statements about the incident.

But an Inquirer military source said Iriberri was in Sulu for an “advanced exit visit and to get first-hand information about the fresh abduction.”

Sulu Vice Governor Abdusakur Tan said he was demanding an explanation why foreigners could easily be abducted in Sulu waters “when troops were supposedly patrolling this sea.”

“The military and police must explain first, why there were Indonesians in Sulu waters. Why were they in a tugboat? How come, these pirates were able to detect tugboats and the Indonesians when our authorities were supposedly equipped with monitoring equipment?” Tan said.

The Inquirer source said the Indonesian captives were employed on a tugboat that works on vessels operating in an illegal mining operation in Tawi-Tawi.

Local politicians and military officers were allegedly involved in the mining operation, a source said.

The captives were identified as Peter B. Tonson, Julian Philip, Alvian Elvis Peti, Mahmud, Surian Syah, Surianto, Wawan Saputra, Bayu Oktavianto, Reynaldi and Wendi Raknadian.

“Allegedly, one of the crew members, using a Taiwanese line, called the ship owner informing him that they were taken by armed men,” the source said.

“The kidnap victims are now either in Sulu or Basilan. Also, the group is asking P50 million from the tugboat owner,” the source added.

The Abu Sayyaf is a ragtag band of self-styled Islamists, which has become notorious for its kidnapping, bombing and beheading activities.

The military has been on the forefront of the campaign against the bandit group, which continues to persist amid the deaths or capture of its influential leaders in the past.

With 10 Indonesians as latest kidnap victims, the number of captives in the hands of the kidnap for ransom gang in Sulu is now two dozens.

Still in the hands of their Abu Sayyaf captors are Ewold Horn (Dutch), cousins Hajan Perong and Joshua Bani (Filipino fish traders of Tawi-Tawi), Toshio Ito (Japanese treasure hunter), Yahong Tan Lim (Chinese), Dennis Cabadunga (Filipino businessman), John Ridsdel (Canadian), Robert Hall. (Canadian), Kjartan Sekkingstand (Norwegian), Marites Flor (Filipina), Rolando del Torchio (Italian), Antonio Tan and grandson Ray (Filipino-Chinese businessmen) and Ronnie Bancale (Filipino fish trader).

Metropolitan Police Crime Division (MPCD), Teku, arrested Sunny Lama, 28, Sajit Lama, 24, and Rajan Rai,19, residents of Bouddha, Kathmandu, for their alleged involvement in the murder of Venisha.

Venisha Limbu, a native of Dhankuta and resident of Kapan, Kathmandu, had gone missing since February 20. Preliminary investigation has revealed that Limbu had affair with Sunny Lama, MPCD Chief Sarbendra Khanal said.

According to police investigation, Venisha had gone to Thamel-based Hard rock disco with the accused and returned to spend the night together at an apartment near Bouddha Gate. “It has been found that Sunny, Venisha and the absconding accused stayed together at an apartment after drinking alcohol,” said Khanal.

Sunny and Venisha had consensual sex at the apartment. And then after a while, the absconding accused knocked on the door of the room where Venisha and Sunny were staying. The absconding man told Sunny to leave with the intention to rape Venisha that led to a minor verbal exchange with Sunny. Venisha entered the toilet after realising the absconding man's intention to rape her. After she refused to let him have sex, the man allegedly pushed her from the sixth floor of the building, said SSP Khanal.

After pushing here down, the accused along with Sunny, left the apartment in a car to take Venisha to hospital. He drove her around the town without taking her to hospital. But she succumbed to her injuries in the car after which they later took her body to Nagarkot and threw, police said.

Amitabh Bachchan has already been talked much about this tournament during the national anthem in the match against Pakistan followed by the ensuing controversy, then by having a subtle dig at Indian commentators and again on Sunday when he reacted to Andrew Flintoff’s comment on Virat Kohli and the comparison with Joe Root.

Bachchan Sr hosted the West Indies opener and asked him to score a 100 but also make sure that India ends up on the winning end!
