Kathmandu, Feb 17: Since early morning on Tuesday, Hindu devotees all over the country are observing the great festival of Mahashivaratri offering prayers to Lord Shiva at various rivers, ponds and temples.
Shivaratri is one of the popular nights among the four nights the three others being Kaalratri, Moharatri and Sukharatri. Regarded as one of the greatest festivals in the holy scriptures of the Hindus—the Puranas, Shivaratri is also marked as the birthday of Lord Shiva.
