The opening ceremony was scheduled to begin at 1pm today but it was
delayed by an hour. A large number of party cadres are arriving at the
venue.
Acting NC president Ram Chandra Poudel, General Secretaries Prakash Man
Singh and Krishna Prasad Sitaula have just arrived in the venue.
Ram Chandra Paudel, Krishna Prasad Sitaula from the establishment
faction and Sher Bahadur Deuba from the rival faction are in contending
for the top post of the party.
Around 3,500 delegates will attend the party general convention that
include 3,170 representatives from across the country and party's sister
wings in various 19 countries, volunteers, observers and foreign
delegates.
