23, 2016 : A Tara Air Viking 9N-AHH Twin Otter carrying 18 passengers
and three crew members en route to Jomsom from Pokhara has been missing.
The plane took off from Pokhara at 7:47 this morning. The passengers
included two tourists, according to Police. Tara Air has said that it
has received reports of a missing plane. Details are yet to come.
A Viking Air DHC-6 Twin Otter 400, operating Tara Air flight 193, was
destroyed in an accident in the Myagdi district, Nepal. All 23 on board
suffered fatal injuries. The aircraft departed at 07:50 hours local time
from Pokhara Airport (PKR) on a domestic 20-minute flight to Jomsom
Airport (JMO), Nepal.
According to a statement by the airline, the aircraft crashed near
Tirkhe Dungha, Dana VDC of Myagdi district. Weather at both origin and
destination airports was favourable, according to a Tara Air statement.
An Airbus A330-303, operated by THY Turkish Airlines, suffered a runway
excursion accident upon landing at Kathmandu-Tribhuvan Airport (KTM),
Nepal. Flight TK726 was a regular passenger service from
Istanbul-Atatürk International Airport (IST) to Kathmandu, Nepal. The
flight was the first international flight to scheduled to arrive that
morning.
