Feb 4, 2016- Sadhbhawana Party Chairman Rajendra Mahato said the Birgunj border point should be opened immediately. Mahato remark comes at times when other leaders of the Madhesi Morcha claimed the border obstruction in Birgunj would go on.
Mahato, who took part in sit-in programmes in Birgunj to obstruct the flow of goods in the past, said blockade cannot be continued by obstructing only the Birgunj border. “Either all the border points should be obstructed or the Birgunj border should be opened immediately,” Mahato said to eKantipur this morning in Biratnagar.
Mahato also said that he had spoke with other Morcha leaders about opening Birgunj border as other border points with India have been relaxed.
“Opening of other points except Birgunj has promoted black marketing. Such black-marketed goods have also reached Kathmandu and has derailed our efforts to put pressure on the Capital,” Mahato said. “My point is either we should obstruct all the border point or if other points are opened, Birgunj border should also be opened.”
Mahato said the border obstruction by the Morcha was to put pressure on the state and not to affect the lives of people. “Obstructing only Birgunj border has instead severely affected the common lives. We obstructed goods flow to put pressure on the state, not disrupt the daily lives of common people,” Mahato said.
