Election to elect the Nepali Congress (NC) parliamentary party (PP) leadership is ongoing at the party's PP office in Singha Durbar.
MPs began casting their votes at 11 am and will continue until 2 pm, according to the Election Commission Coordinator, Ramesh Rijal.
He informed that the electric voting system is being used in the poll that will give quick results.
NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba and senior leader Ram Chandra Paudel are vying for the post.
Deuba was proposed by lawmaker Farmullaha Mansoor and seconded by Padya Narayan Chaudhary. Likewise, Paudel was proposed by Prakash Man Singh and seconded by party general secretary Shashank Koirala.
Poudel was defeated by Deuba in the 13th General Convention of the Nepali Congress by 526 votes. A candidate should obtain at least 104 votes out of total 207 votes to be elected as the PP leader.
The post became vacant after the death of erstwhile party president and PP leader Sushil Koirala.
