Nepal defeats Namibia by 5 wickets

KATHMANDU, April 16: Sharad Vesawkar scored 50 runs not out as Nepal defeated Namibia by five wickets to register its first win in the ICC World Cricket League Championship held at the TU Cricket ground in Kirtipur on Saturday.

Nepal chased the 196-run target set by Namibia in 47.1 overs losing five wickets.

Vesawkar was highest scorer for Nepal. He completed half century off 99 balls hitting three fours. Binod Bhandari made 40 runs, while skipper Paras Khadka and opener Gyanendra Malla contributed 21 runs each.
Electing to bat first after winning the toss, Namibia made195 runs in allotted 50 overs losing nine wickets.

Sarel Burger top scored with 38 runs off 77 balls including four fours for Namibia. Pikky Ya France made 26 runs including two sixes and two fours off 47 balls while JJ Smit hit  the same number of runs including two sixes and one four off 22 balls. Similalry, Gerhard Erasmus contributed 25 runs off 38 balls.

Restricting opponent Namibia to 195 runs, Nepal's Basanta Regmi claimed three wickets conceding 40 runs in 10 overs, Sompal Kami took two wickets giving away 47 runs while skipper Paras Khadka and Sandeep Lamichhane grabbed one wicket each.
