Nepal, a key constituent party of the agitating Samyukta Loktantrik
Madhesi Morcha, has decided to intensify Kathmandu-centric protest
programmes while strengthening the ongoing border blockade at the same
time.
The party Chairman Upendra Yadav said that agitating Madhesi
Morcha will enlarge its alliance by grouping with the sides involved in
identity-based politics to further intensify the protest.
The
party’s central working committee meeting held here in the Capital has
concluded that the government is apathetic to Madhesi demands and hence
there is no alternative to a ‘decisive protest’.
Chairman Yadav
said they were compelleled to resort to a 'decisive protest' as the
government did not show seriousness to address the demands of
Madhes-based parties despite utmost flexibility on the latter's part.
“Government
has amended the constitution unilaterally and forcefully, just like it
promulgated the constitution,” said Chairman Yadav after the CWC meet.
“The amendments do not address Madhes agitation.”
