Nepal bat against New Zealand

KATHMANDU: Nepal on Thursday bat first after New Zealand won the toss and chose to field first in U-19 ICC Cricket World Cup at Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Stadium in Fatullah of Bangladesh.

Currently, Rajbir Singh and Aarif Shiekh are batting for Nepal at 167/4 with a partnership of 39 runs off 8.2 overs after Raju Rijal was bowled by Josh Finne. Rijal made 48 runs with six 4s from 65 balls.

Nepal lost its first wicket when Christian Leopard bowled Sunil Dhamala after he contributed 15 runs to the scoreboard with three 4s.

Nepal faced a loss of another wicket with Yogendra Singh Karki in the 11.4 overs bowled by Leopard and with Surendra Sunar when he was bowled by Rachin Rabindra at 18.3 overs after scoring 39 runs with three 4s and one 6.

Nepal are in Group D along with India, Ireland and New Zealand.

Altogether 16 countries including Nepal are taking part in the tournament with teams divided into four groups.
