KATHMANDU: Major five political parties – including
the main opposition Nepali Congress and other ruling four – on Wednesday
decided that top leaders of the big parties would hold talks with the
protesting United Democratic Madhesi Front.
Nepali Congress,
CPN-UML, UCPN-Maoist, Madhesi Janaadhikar Forum-Democratic and Rastriya
Prajatantra Party-Nepal had held a meeting at the Prime Minister’s
residence in Baluwatar this afternoon to prepare strategies for talks
with the Front.
NC Vice-President Ram Chandra Paudel told the Rastriya Samachar Samiti after the meeting that the Front leaders would be invited for talks at 9 am on Thursday.
Likewise, the meeting decided to find consensus among proposals registered at the House on the Constitution Amendment Bill.
If the consensus was elusive, the task force would be assigned to do homework for amendment, according to Paudel.
On Tuesday, the Front had dissolved its task force
formed to hold talks, claiming the relevance of talks at the task force
level ended and only the top leaders could resolve the differences.
NC
President Sushil Koirala and Vice-President Paudel; UML Chairman and
Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and leader Agni Prasad Kharel; UCPN-M
Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal and Vice-Chairman Narayan Kaji Shrestha;
MJF-D Chairman and Deputy Prime Minister Bijay Kumar Gachhadar and RPP-N
Chief Whip Dilnath Giri were present at the meeting.
