NA aircraft averts disaster in Jumla

Apr 11, 2016- A Nepal Airlines aircraft (Twin Otter with call sign 9N-ABB) averted a disaster at Jumla airport on Monday.The crew members stopped the engine after the wire of its nose gear steering-wheel snapped.

The Nepalgunj-bound aircraft was grounded at around 1 this afternoon, Jumla airport chief Pawan Shrestha said. “The problem was noticed after the aircraft had moved 540 meters on the runway,” he said. “Later the security personnel, aircraft staffers and passengers pushed the plane to the side.

There were 16 people onboard the plane. JK Niraula is the captain of the aircraft. A team of engineers and necessary equipments will be brought for the maintenance of the plane, the airport said.

Passengers said the accident was averted due to the alertness of crew members. They also thanked the crew members for saving them form possible accident by informing about the malfunctioning in time.
